Celebrating Life

I recently celebrated my birthday. This morning, as I was slowly rereading my birthday cards, I realized that I had missed the back of one of them. Reading this made me feel like celebrating all over again. I’m sharing it with you with the hope that you will celebrate, too:
Each day of the year should be celebrated just as enthusiastically as the day of your birth. Some may notice today, some may not. What does it matter? You should be the primary celebrant.
After all, you’re the one who has done the work, met the challenges, made the changes, pulled yourself up, taken it on the chin, made peace, pushed open closed doors, taken responsibility, made your life work. You—more than anyone else—have reason to celebrate today, and look forward to another year of life.
Don’t hold back! Laugh until your belly hurts. Hug your loved ones until they squeal! Jump up and down! Give yourself a well-deserved hoorah! Pat yourself on the back. Now, take a deep breath and look to today and the year ahead with joy and excitement. You’ve earned it.

Create a cozier and more social kitchen

Today’s kitchen isn’t just for cooking.  Over time, living and family room activities have gravitated to the kitchen.  Walls that once separated these areas are coming down to provide more versatility in less space.

Here’s an idea to create a cozier and more social feel to your kitchen.  Install a kitchen island.  This functional space is great for food prep, homework, projects, buffet service for entertaining, informal dining and extra storage.  What a bang for your buck.

You want to allow three to four feet around the island for ease of opening cabinet doors and moving around.  Purchase a small portable island, buy pre-fab cabinets and attach them together, or if the budget permits, have one custom built.

Select a countertop that coordinates with your existing kitchen décor and works equally well for food preparation and projects.  Hang a light fixture or install can lights in the ceiling, and install a dimmer switch so you can have maximum light for working or a soft glow when you want ambiance.

It is always a good idea to get input from a Realtor® regarding the marketability of you home and your plans to remodel.   I am always available for these conversations.  I am happy to assist you, your friends and colleagues with any real estate needs.  Feel free to call me at 541-941-6201.
